Celebration of Madonna del Rosario
Every first Sunday of October takes place the Madonna of Rosary celebration, and a traditional cake is prepared in Germignaga,
the almond brittle.
At the end of the procession, out of the church an auction happens in which cakes, baskets,
different recipes of the almond brittle and other autumnal products are sold.
Germignaga almond brittle recipe
Putl the sugar in a pot with a drop of water and simmer it, continuously stirring with a wood spoon. When it turns golden,
add peeledminced almonds, and grated orange skin.
Melt everything, and after 7-8 minutes remove from heat.
Oil tinfoil, put on it the mixture still hot and flatter it by rolling on it a clean orange:
it has to be maximum 1 centimeter thick. Cut it in rhombus using a knife and chill it.
When it's completely cold, divide each single part, and if they will not be immediately eaten, put them in tinfoil and in a vase.
Storing it in a cool, dried place it will last a whole year.
