Birdwatching

San Giovanni river

The path along river San Giovanni (the starting point of this path is located at the side of the bridge placed between the Primary School and the roundabout of the Cemetery) takes us in a different environment than those described before and can therefore accommodate different bird species.
In the first part of the path, still wide open, you can observe two bird species typical of streams: the elegant Jellow Wagtail and the Dipper, excellent swimmer. Walking on, we canmeet the typical fauna of wooded environments: here it is easy to observe the RedWoodpecker, the Green Woodpecker, the Great Tit, the Blue Tit, the Coal Tit and the Marsh Tit, a noisy flock of long-tailed tits, and hear the strong call of a tiny passerine, the Wren. In addition to some Buzzards, the easiest bird of prey to be observed here is the Sparrowhawk, perfectly able to fly in tight spaces, such as the intricate branches of a wood, with its short, large wings and long tail.
